The world of baseball is not known as a ferociously violent contact sport like rugby or even football, but there are always several Major League Baseball players on the injured list due to injuries sustained while at a game or practice. Despite the safety precautions taken by sports facility providers like rail pads and protective fencing, other injuries do occur. For the month of June 2011, there are at least four players from the Arizona Diamondbacks who are on the injured list including Sam Demel and Juan Gutierrez, both of whom are suffering from a shoulder ailment.
